James Wesley Brannum died at home which was less than 1/2 mile from where Uncle Jimmy Brannum lives today, 1998. They held his wake at his house and buried him in the cemetery near Uncle Jimmy's house. When they buried him there were 12 Ku Klux Klan members that rode black horses and wore their formal white outfits who rode at the lead of the funeral. This scared Aunt Thelma who thought they were ghosts riding in the funeral. She told me (Bruce Brannum) she use to have nightmares as a child as a result of the experience.. His body was interred at Lonehill Cemetery, Poplar Bluff, Butler County, Missouri, at Lonehill Cemetery. |
