From Dickson County, Tennessee marriage records they married first on March 12, 1848, and second on October 21, 1856. From Tennessee Tidbits 1778-1914 Vol. 1: "Ladd, Thomas - Divorce petition was made 2 August 1852. On March 12th 1848 he had married Arjane Baker in Dickson County Tennessee where she resided and moved her to Hickman Co. Tn. where he resided at that time. She left him 14th Sept. 1848 and went to her father in Dickson Co. He persuaded her to return until 10th April 1849 when she left again. In Sept. 1849 she returned to him and they moved to Dickson Co. and lived together until 24th June 1850 when she left again and returned to her father. They have two children, a daughter and a son, and he ask for custody. The children are now with her. The divorce was granted and she is ordered not to remove the children from the county and he is to have full and free access to them at all times until further order. Dickson Co. TN. cir. ct. min.
