Carl was born on 3 October 1918 at Saline County, Arkansas.
He was the son of Walter William Ray and Rose Ophelia Graves.
He married Mary Olive Kirby at County Courthouse, Benton, Saline County, Arkansas, on 29 January 1938.
Carl served in the military in 1942.
Carl died on 16 February 1998 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, at age 79. A retired partner in Engine Rebuilders, he was a member of the Union Valley Baptist Church, Scimitar Shrine Temple, Past Master of the Mary William Lodge 307, Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, member and Past Master of Perry Lodge 727, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and Captain of the Flag Patrol. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Mary Olive Kirby Ray. Survivors include two sons, Carl D. Ray Jr. of Hope and Robert A. Ray of Little Rock; two daughters, Judy Ray McDonald of Chattanooga and Patricia Keel of Little Rock; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at First Baptist Church in Perryville. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Forest Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. this evening at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th St., Little Rock..
