Rev. Joseph Mayall was a Baptist Minister for over 40 Years. He came to the U.S. from England. Many of those years were spent preaching in Hattieville, Conway County, Arkansas. From "Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Western Arkansas." Goodspeed Publishers, 1891. CONWAY COUNTY, ARKANSAS - "The Baptist Church at Center Ridge was organized about 1888, with Rev. J. Mayall first pastor. The present pastor is Dr. B. M. Stephens. Membership, 30." From Mark Miller email 9/26/1998 - "The Baptist Ministerial Directory" (Arkansas History Commission) has this: "MAYALL, Joseph, cook Co., Tex. - Born Lankshire, England; Lie, 1874, Antioch Ch., Miss; Ord. Aug. 11, '78, Lone Grove Ch., Ark; P. Lone Grove, '78; Cedar Creek, '79-80; Pleasant Springs, '79-82; Union Hill, Pleasant Hill, Mountain View; My. '98. P. Sardis, 3 yrs; Fish Creek and Bethlehem, Tex.-."2
Joseph died on 28 September 1921 at Rosie Township, Independence County, Arkansas, at age 87.
His body was interred at Maple Springs Cemetery, Maple Springs, Independence County, Arkansas, at Maple Springs Cemetery. From Mark Miller email 10/11/1998 - "I went to Maple Springs Cemetery, located on Maple Springs Road. You will find it on the county map. It is near Rosie. His grave is simple, but nice. It is just a rectangular slab of stone with Reverend J. Mayall, and the dates. Easily readible, thank goodness. It took us 30 minutes to find it, since it was quite a large cemetery.".
