After an illiness of five weeks, died April 4, 1904, at his home in Reyno, AR. In 1854, he professed faith in Christ, joined the M. E. church, South, and received license to preach. He was recommended for admission into the traveling connection, but on two different occasions, sickness prevented his attending conference and taking the examination. For several years he was local elder. Bro. Brannum was faithfull in all his ministry. Few local preachers, if any, were more abundant in labors that he. For many years he traveled large circuits in Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas, suffering and enjoying the rich experiences of pioneer Methodism. Should one star be added to his crown for each soul brought to Christ through his ministry, then surely Bro. Brannum will wear a glittering crown. In all the trials of life he stood the test nobly. A devoted wife, five daughters, many relatives and a host of friends mourn his departure. He "Walked with God, and was not; for God took him." J. H. Marlin. Flatwoods, MO." . |
